Chapter 25: The Mother’s Secret

Some truths aren’t buried.

They’re locked—

Behind promises, tears, and wedding sindoor.

But the past has a key.

And her name is Ishira.

---

Scene 1: The Silence Breaks

Your mother sat across from you in the old prayer room.

Sari draped. Eyes red.

Hands trembling over her mangalsutra.

You placed the photo on the floor between you both.

“Tell me what you stole from Ishira.”

She didn’t deny it.

Just whispered, “It wasn’t meant to survive us.”

You waited. She finally spoke.

“Your father and I… we were spies. Hidden under artist masks. Working for a silent Indian-Korean alliance meant to dismantle corrupted moguls on both sides.”

“Ishira was the asset who turned. She fell in love with the man she was meant to destroy—your father.”

“When he chose truth over her, she turned him in. I found the files before she could.”

Your breath caught.

“You mean the files… I found with Aarav?”

She nodded.

“You’re living a war your father died in. And now… so is your daughter.”

---

Scene 2: The Father’s Shadow

Yoongi was staring at an old black-and-white photo of his own father.

Ishira was in it.

So was a child. One with eyes like Yoongi’s.

He turned to you.

“What if she’s not after our daughter… but me?”

You sat beside him.

“Then she’ll have to fight the woman standing between you both.”

---

Scene 3: The Offer

A private message was dropped in your home mailbox. No one saw who left it.

"One meeting. No traps. No security. Just mothers.

Midnight. The temple where your parents married."

Yoongi refused.

“You’re not going.”

You touched his hand.

“She wants to talk to me because she thinks I’m weak.

Let’s show her she’s wrong.”

---

Scene 4: The Temple Meeting

You arrived at midnight.

Ishira was already kneeling at the altar.

No guards. No weapons.

She handed you a scroll.

“This is the last piece of the puzzle. The names your father died for. If you give it to the press… five empires fall.”

You didn’t flinch.

“Why give it to me?”

Her smile was bitter.

“Because when they come for your child, you’ll understand the cost of choosing truth over power. And you’ll know… I was merciful.”

---

Scene 5: The Final Warning

Before she disappeared into the night, she whispered:

“Keep your daughter away from music, from the stage, from fame. That’s how it begins. That’s how it always ends.”

You clutched the scroll to your chest.

And for the first time since marrying Yoongi,

You weren’t sure if love…

would be enough.

---

Ending Scene: The Choice

Back home, Yoongi watched you place the scroll in the safe.

“We can burn it,” he said. “End it all.”

You shook your head.

“No. We protect it. For her. For the future.”

As Aahana stirred in her crib, you both stood silent.

Behind love…

Behind power…

Behind idols…

There was always a war no one saw coming.
