Chapter 4: The Fire Behind the Cold

Back in the penthouse, the air was heavy.

You hadn’t spoken since that moment outside the café. Since Yoongi’s hand gripped yours like you were something he wasn’t ready to lose. Since his words hit sharper than Ayan’s betrayal.

You finally turned to him. “Why did you defend me like that?”

Yoongi leaned against the counter, arms crossed, that usual calm barely masking the storm in his eyes. “Because he disrespected my wife.”

A beat.

“That’s all?” you asked, voice quieter now.

He didn’t answer.

Because it wasn’t just that.

But admitting it? That would make this real.

Viral Storm

The photo hit Twitter within the hour.

Yoongi holding your hand. Standing inches in front of your ex. His jaw tight. Yours wide-eyed. Sparks practically flying.

ARMY exploded with theories. Some swooned. Some doubted. Some cried.

And you?

You sat in his car, scrolling through the mess, heart pounding.

“I didn’t expect you to act like…”

You trailed off.

“Like a husband?” he finished.

You met his eyes.

“Like you cared.”

Late Night, One Bed

The guest room was “too suspicious,” he said.

So now you shared his bed. Again.

He stayed on the far side. Like you had the plague.

But at 3 a.m., something stirred.

You turned—and found him watching you in the dim light.

“Can’t sleep?” you asked.

His voice was rough. “Your breathing changed.”

Your eyes widened. “You were listening to me breathe?”

Yoongi didn’t look away. “It was the only sound in this damn silence.”

You stared at him.

Two strangers.

One bed.

A world watching.

And in the stillness, you whispered, “I’m not her, Yoongi. I’m not Aarohi.”

He didn’t answer right away. Just leaned in—so close your breaths tangled—and said:

“I know. You’re worse.”

You flinched.

But then he added, so low it could’ve been a dream—

“Because you’re the one I can’t ignore.”
